Replacement Part: Encoder(Smart Sensor) (part number: A2072)
*Highlights show the replacement part and where it fits on the mounting plate.
Tools: 3/16 hex key, wire strippers, wire crimper, 3x wire crimp connectors, socket wrench and 3/8 socket, 2x wrench sized 14/16, zip tie
- First, run the motor so that extension tube is retracted fully
- Loosen strain relief nut on the back of motor housing
- Remove 6 screws on the rear housing (Use a 3/16 Allen key)
- Take off rear housing enough to expose the 12 volt motor
- Take the Nice logo cover off under the cover tube on the front cover of the housing
- Remove both the nuts on the front of the operator under cover tube (Use a 3/8 socket)
- Remove the motor, keeping the red and black wires in tact
- Remove 2 screws located on either side of where the motor normally sits
- Using the limit switch and bracket assembly as hand hold point pull the entire mounting plate back and up over the limit screw carefully
- On the back side of the mounting plate there is a nut that holds the encoder/ smart sensor. Secure each nut on both sides using 14/17 wrenches to disconnect the encoder/ smart sensor
- Cut the 3 wires from the smart sensor (brown, black, blue) close to the wire crimp connectors
- Replace the smart sensor with the new one
- Rewire the smart sensor using the wiring diagram below
- Reassemble the motor, and fasten the mounting plate back to the front cover of the housing
- Situate wiring so that they do NOT impede the traveling limit blocks. Consider fastening the wires around the motor cylinder with a zip tie
- Clean silicon off the rear housing, apply a new bead of silicon
- Put it all back together, making sure to tighten the strain relief leaving a small amount of slack pushed up into the motor housing
