We recently had a customer with the below question;
We have two edges installed wirelessly using R-band kits. I am trying to determine if either edge loses communication with the receiver does this trigger the operator to open? We have the gate opening when closed at random times and there is nothing triggering the gate.
Answer;
Gate edge inputs can only reverse the gate during or within the last 2 seconds of gate operation. If the gate is stopped at the close limit longer than 2 seconds the edge cannot open or reverse the gate. The only inputs that can cause the gate to open from a fully closed position would be an open input, radio open input, partial open input, fire open input or a free exit loop input. The free exit loop could either be a HySecurity plug in module or something wired into the free exit terminal screw. The free exit loop(if there is one) would be my starting point. Try reducing the sensitivity of the detector and see if the issues persist. Depending upon the age of the operator we could potentially turn on the extended diagnostics log and try to identify the exact opening input. This process does get quite involved, tedious and time consuming but it will identify the input that is activating.
